Doctor Who fans can take a deep breath and get their sci-fi loving heads around this: The daughter of an actor who played The Doctor will play The Doctor's daughter on next week's episode of Doctor Who in the United Kingdom. The episode arrives with the accurately descriptive, but somewhat unimaginative title, The Doctor's Daughter.

The Doctor spent the previous episode stopping squat, evil and ugly monsters from expelling deadly gas into the air -- which serves as exciting sci-fi adventure and as a description of my last family Thanksgiving. Now, David Tennant's Doctor will return to Earth and discover he has petite, blonde offspring in the form of Georgia Moffett, the episode's titular character.

Moffett is the daughter of Peter Davison, who played The Doctor's fifth incarnation. It's not the first time a previous lead actor's descendant has appeared on the show. David Troughton, son of Doctor No. 2 Patrick Troughton, appeared in Doctor No. 3's story The Curse of Peladon in 1972.

Davison himself returned to Doctor Who this past Christmas with a special short episode shot for the U.K.'s Children in Need telethon.
